Montinutra Introduced New Hair Care Ingredient

Montinutra has partnered with Finnish natural personal care products manufacturer Ole Hyvä to bring Boreal Bioproducts® SpruceSugar™ to the consumer market through Ole Hyvä’s new personal care product range.

100% Natural and Innovative Ingredient

SpruceSugar™ is a 100% natural hemicellulose extract derived from sustainable spruce sawmill side streams. SpruceSugar™ is an innovative and sustainable ingredient that replaces analogue chemicals and polysaccharides.

The ingredient, which has the potential to increase the antioxidant capacity of the product it is used in, can help the user’s hair cope with oxidative stress, such as hair coloring, in personal care products such as shampoo. It also has the potential to prevent inflammation.

SpruceSugar™, one of Montinutra’s Boreal Bioproducts® products, was developed at record speed and became a consumer product in just 14 months from the testing phase. All products in the newly launched range are vegan, biodegradable and contain SpruceSugar™.

They Contribute to Reducing Carbon Emissions

Montinutra says it could also be used in larger industrial applications, potentially being an option for the current adhesive market.
